Hotel shuttles and pick up curbs -- Posted by Office on Thursday, July 22 2010
All hotel shuttles pick up from curbs 2A and 2H. New Airport Regulations now require this and also require that they obtain a permit with the Airports Authority for this business. Just received this information from the Contract Management Division of MWAA. So you can sent passengers to curb 2A or 2H for hotel shuttle pickup.

Information Manuals -- Posted by Office on Monday, July 19 2010
Information Manuals: Please DO NOT place information in the information manuals unless approved by me first.(We are constantly updating and changing as information changes.) An example of this: In one of the manuals the Lost and Found information was typed up on blue paper and taped to the inside cover of the binder. But the Lost and Found Information that we provide was on the corresponding page. It is identical information. Plus numbers are always changing and I have to verify every single number in the manual. If you think there is a change in a number or location please get in touch with the office. I am in the process of getting in touch with every airline and updating information. I appreciate the initiative but please do not write or place information in those manuals, please give it to the staff and let us confirm it.
ARINC -- Posted by Office on Monday, July 19 2010
ARINC is the new contractor for MUFIDS. It’s the same number, etc that is listed in our manuals. You will get a Service Desk representative when you are reporting an incident. Remember your MUFID monitor is the middle computer at the desks on the baggage claim level. You will not get help by calling the MWAA help desk. You must call the MUFIDS help desk.
Customs seals -- Posted by Office on Monday, July 19 2010
We are starting the badging process to open the desks inside Customs and the FIS. If you are interested in working in the customs area here are the standards we are looking for: Not everyone will be allowed a customs seal. You will need to take a permanent weekly shift. Only a few subs will be needed. We need to staff the FIS and Customs Hall 8am-9pm daily – yes this includes weekends. The shifts will echo those that are set up for the desks. You will need to be fingerprinted by a Customs (CBP) officer – different from MWAA Pass and ID. Also there will be paperwork to fill out. The CBP fingerprinting person will probably only be here one day and we all need to be here to be fingerprinted. So if you are really serious about being part of the volunteer force in customs you will need to comply with CBP. Time tables will be short. When you work in the customs area we are there to provide assistance to the passengers. Both the Customs Hall and FIS have a desk for us to work from. There will be a phone and internet. We will help by helping passengers fill out the correct form(s) and possibly finding a phone number or address of the person or place they are staying while in DC. WE ARE NOT there to tell CBP how to run things. We work for them. Please give me a call by August 13th if you are interested in working a weekly shift in the customs area. We will have a briefing/training before we start staffing. Remember this is a SLOW process.

Desk Computers -- Posted by Office on Monday, July 19 2010
We are trying to get the computers at the desks up and running identically. Over the next couple of weeks IT will be removing and reinstalling computers at the desks. Please DO NOT log off of those computers. You will get a blank screen. If you do get a blank screen you will need to turn the computer off then back on. Hit ok and wait for the home page to come up. If you have any questions please call the office and we will come down and take care of it.

The information - there is a lot - is in the Current Notices Book. Too much information to put on Program News. Each of the baggage claim desks has a Current Notices Book.
Student ambassadors -- Posted by Office on Tuesday, June 29 2010
If – when you work, especially post security – a student ambassador (yellow shirt) is stationed at your post and you are not in need of them please politely tell them you are stationed there and will be there until (always give them a time to come back and take over). We are working very hard to eliminate a duplication of services so please let the students know you have that area covered and they will find another spot. They will also stay and help you if you need it. We stay because we are contracted for that spot at that time; they work for mwaa and have more flexibility in where they are stationed. There has been a duplication of services because mwaa wants to make sure all areas are covered and we have been a little inconsistent post-security, especially on the mezzanine level. If you are in need of help regarding passenger assistance to a gate please call the office and we will radio for an ambassador to come to your assistance. The airport would rather you (Travelers Aid) stay at the location and let the ambassadors help the passenger to the gate.
Closing the desks in the evening -- Posted by Office on Wednesday, May 19 2010
Closing the desks in the evening. We have had some problems with desk security and phones being properly forwarded. On Lower Desk 1 and Lower Desk 2: Store the computer keyboard and mouse and mouse pads in the cabinet below the monitor. Please turn the monitors off. Please put the manuals in their cabinets and tidy up before leaving. Lock all cabinets and the door before leaving. At the Lower Desk 1 please forward line 28296 in the evening, instructions are in the manual. Please re-familiarize yourself with those instructions. We are getting reports that the phone has not been forwarded properly so those calls into that line after you leave at night are not going to the switchboard. Also please make sure you disengage Call Forwarding in the morning. Remember its only on the 28296 line. All other lines are to be left alone. For International, please make sure the monitors are turned off and the keyboards and mouse are left on top of the counters. Please lock all cabinets and the door before you leave. And before you leave any desk please make sure the keys are in the key combination boxes.
Log Book at International Reminder -- Posted by Office on Friday, February 20 2009
If you work at the international desk, please remember to leave the maintenance log book out at ALL times. Do not store this underneath the counter in the evenings.
